Shillong, the former capital of Assam, is one of the most renowned destinations of North East India. In today’s date Shillong has become the capital of Meghalaya. Shillong is often referred as the Scotland of the East due to its uncanny resemblances with the highlands of Scotland. This beautiful North Eastern city derives its name from Leishyllong, a super natural being who is believed to reside in the hilltop of Shillong.
